  OP-8 -- Roland DCB CV interface --

• The OP-8 is a interface designed to allow the MC-4 MicroComposer to automatically control polyphonic synthesizers such as the Jupiter-8 and Juno-60 which have the built-in DCB (Digital Communication Bus).

The Jupiter-8 and Juno-60 can be used to playback compositions from the MC-4 and the synthesizers program memory can then be used to add a wide variety of sounds to the composition.

• The Jupiter-8 and Juno-60 connect to the OP-8 in different ways and, therefore, two connectors are provided. The following explanations and diagrams illustrate this point.

How to Connect the OP-8 and Jupiter-8

OP-8 connect to mc 4-jupiter 8

• The OC-8 optional connector must be used to connect the OP-8 and Jupiter-8 unless the Jupiter-8A is used.

The Jupiter-8A has a factory installed connector.

• The OP-8 has 8 CV input jacks and 8 Gate input jacks to receive outputs from the MicroComposer.
Jacks 1 through 4 are used to control the upper manual of the Jupiter-8. Jacks 5 through 8 are for the lower manual.

The availability of some of the functions is dependent upon the setting of the Jupiter-8 key mode switch.

• In addition to interval control, the OP-8 is capable of controlling the Jupiter-8's VCF.
It applies a voltage ranging from 0 to 10V to the CV jack to control the VCF cutoff frequency.
The OP-8 can also be utilized to control the VCA to pro-duce a variety of expressions.

DCB = Digital Communication Bus

Connection of the OP-8 and JUNO-60

OP-8 connect to mc 4-juno 60

• It is necessary to use a H-165 cable to connect the DCB connector on the Juno to the OP-8.
• Only six channels of information from the MC-4/OP-8 can be utilized by the Juno-60.

When the OP-8 is connected to the Juno-60, the OP-8's CV jack, Gate input jack, and Transpose switch are operable.

The Transpose switch lets you change any note one octave, either up or down.
